Located at the heart of the old town of Cherbourg, with a view across the port, 5' from the ferry station, the "Hotel de la Régence" is the ideal stopover before or after a cross-channel crossing. In a modern style, the 21 rooms are all equipped with bathroom, wc, direct telephone, cable tv, most with a view of the fishing port. Each room has a private bath (shower or tub), dressing table, and television with Canal + and channels in English. A room accessible to handicapped persons is available. All other rooms are accessible by stairs only (no elevator).

Situated in Normandy, at the extreme end of the Cotentin Peninsula in the county of la Manche, Cherbourg-Octeville is at the heart of a region, which benefits from a temperate climate where a range of rare plants are able to bloom.

To the east is the charming Val de Saire, and to the west, the wild and magnificent La Hague. Cherbourg-Octeville occupies a privileged geographical position at the end of the Cotentin Peninsula and at the heart of the English Channel. Cherbourg has many attributes. It is a fishing harbour, a cross-Channel and naval port, and also a transatlantic terminal for liners. It has an Italian-style theatre, an art gallery and historical museum, churches and abbeys. Cherbourg has also a very colourful market, a wide range of restaurants, shops and superb gardens, which are ideal for relaxation.

It was homely and comfortable and a treat to go downstairs to dine on the most delicious french food

The fact that no staff were up early for our ferry journey and no breakfast or any attempt to serve it was made despite our ferry journey back, would not speak English even though the manageress understood it perfectly.

Friendly staff, excellent food, excellent price, close to town and supermarkets, lovely view over harbour and very close to the port. Fantastic. Don't let on to too many people though because we would like to go there again!

A kettle /drink facility in the room would have been nice.

L'hotel est idéalement situé, en face de la marina, dans l'un des plus beau site de cherbourg. Le restaurant vaut le détour, et le personel est adorable.
