THE CHEESE FARM
Who has not heard of Gouda and Edam cheese? At the farm ALIDA HOEVE in Volendam there they make Edam and Gouda farmer’s cheese according to an old recipe. The farm is open for the public to see this handicraft.

And only on a few kilometers there is Amsterdam, Edam, Zaanse Schans, Hoorn, Marken and a lot of more typical Dutch town and attractions.

The restaurant and bar were excellent in all respects, and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The hotel side was not as good as the restaurant. Room was ok, clean, bed comfortable, but with only basic facilities not worth the rate charged.

Spacious and comfortable room, good location of hotel on waterfront

The heat was not on in mid-October -- we had to request that it be turned on. Breakfast was adequate but not very interesting: the bread was mediocre and no toaster was available. The staff was not especially friendly.

The location and the comfortable room. Lots to do within walking distance from the hotel. The atmosphere in the hotel and surrounding area was wonderful. Can't wait to go back.

Good location

I had a single room which was too small to be called a "room". Not worth the price at all. This demonstrates poor hospitality. The room was so small that the bathroom door could't be opened all the way. Also the bed was very uncomfortable.

Location right on the best part of Volendam's harbour front. Great views from room towards Ijselmeer. Spacious, comfortable room. Free parking on street right outside hotel.

Access by car somewhat complicated due to one-way streets system. In fact had to drive back out to town periphery to re-enter harbour front from the correct side.

It was a fantastic setting right in the middle of the pretty harbour. It was a very comfortable hotel and the staff were excellent. We stayed as part of a 2 week holiday in five countries and the service here was by far the best.

Het ontbijt was goed

De bedden waren zeer slecht, de verwarming deet het niet, en er stonden 2 gammele stoeltjes waar je nauwelijks op kon zitten, we waren dus veel buiten het hotel, vandaar dat de prijs/kwaliteit voor ons niet klopt, verder was volendam gelukkig een schitterend dorp

Prijs/kwaliteit verhouding was prima. Kamer 12 (1e verdieping) heeft een mooi uitzicht op de haven en is qua ruimte wat aan de krappe kant. De keuze bij het ontbijt was wat beperkt. Goede zachte matrassen, s'avonds is het heerlijk rustig. Parkeergelegenheid is op loopafstand en wordt beheerd door een mannetje met een schorre stem.
