At Downs Edge you will find the warm welcome and relaxed atmosphere of a country house. The gourmet breakfast menu has homemade dishes and Downs Edge marmalade and preserves.

The house is set in magnificent gardens opening onto the Bristol Downs at the front and the Botanic Gardens at the back. Downs Edge is ideally situated for theatres, cinemas, restaurants and both universities. The city centre is within 2 miles (3.2 km).

The house is furnished with fine period furniture and paintings, and a library. The en suite bedrooms have views across the Downs or the gardens.

Room information

The house is set well back from the nearest road, so all rooms are extremely quiet. Most bedrooms have views either across the Downs - an open park of 450 acres - or of the large gardens.

The City Centre. Clifton,The Universities of Bristol and The West of England, British Aerospace, Abbeywood MOD, The Bristol Hospitals,The BUPA Glen Hospital, The Cancer Help Centre in Clifton, The Mall Shopping Centre at Cribbs Causeway, The new Broadmead Shopping Centre, AztecWest Development.

The Cities of Bath, Cheltenham and Gloucester are within easy reach, as are the Glorious Cotswolds and Cheddar Gorge and Caves. Historic Berkeley Castle, Bowood Park, Badminton House and Longleat are all within an hour's car journey.

Thd city has a wealth of Historical, Architectural and Maritime Heritage. One can tour the old part of the City on foot, take a ride on the Open Top guided Bus Tour, or take a unique view of the City from a Ferry Boat on the River.

If arriving between 1pm and 5pm during the week, please advise us of your time of arrival. We would be very grateful if you could arrive before 7pm on a Saturday - otherwise, please advise us. It is vital to take a copy of the directions to Downs Edge.Please note that no all rooms can accomodate extra bed or cot.

nicely furnished and located by the Clifton Downs. good breakfast menu

not very friendly , this guesthouse manages convey that it is doing its guests a favour by allowing them to pay to say there. the car park is difficult to exit owing to extremely limited turning space.

It had a very homely feel to it. It was very personnel and welcoming.

I asked for a double room and ended up with a Twin bedroom. In the mornig i discovered a damp patch and a leak in the corner of the bedroom.

Their attention to detail was very goodsuch as extra pillows and tea and treats in the room. They put themselves out to give us early breakfast on the Sunday morning.

The owner is very pleasant and it is in a very nice area

The hotel is really a guest house and should be described as such, just a point I am not one for sitting around a single table with lots of other people for breakfast.
