The prestigious Roxburghe Hotel is one of the oldest hotels in Edinburgh and is located in the heart of the Georgian new town, overlooking the historic Charlotte Square, home to Scotland’s First Minister.

This premier 4-star hotel is nearing the completion of a £7.55 million refurbishment of its meeting spaces, public areas and all of its 198 bedrooms, many of which offer views of Edinburgh Castle.

The hotel boasts an unrivalled location, between George Street, the stylish home of the city’s top bars, restaurants and boutique shops, and Rose Street, with its more traditional pubs and eateries.

The Roxburghe prides itself on using the finest ingredients, sourced from local, organic suppliers where possible. So, during your stay, you can expect organic milk, free-range eggs, corn-fed poultry, grass-fed beef and wild white fish in all restaurants.

The talented chefs take these ingredients and prepare them creatively to strict quality standards, resulting in an exciting, varied menu.

Breakfast is served from 07:00 until 10:00.
Lunch is served from 10:00 until 18:00.
Dinner is served from 18:30 until 21:45.

As part of a GBP 7.5 million refurbishment programme, all 198 bedrooms have been individually redesigned to complement the unique Georgian architecture of the Roxburghe Hotel.

Friendly helpful staff. Treatments were lovely I had a back massage and I left feeling really relaxed

Breakfast service was slow and overpriced. Pool area, steam room, sauna and changing rooms a bit grubby and in need of refurbishment

I liked the pleasant and helpful staff - the size of the room was good - very clean and comfortable -well equipt -convenient location

The room we had must have been above or very near to a function room and although I might stay again I would ask about this as the music was very loud in the room and continued until 2am also the street noise was quite bad all night. I also had problems at the restaurant in the evening and I think perhaps this was also due to the function.

The Hotel booking was double booked and on arriva was told i was being moved they made out this was not there fault but it was not mine either i booked this hotel months in advance.

Comfortable, warm room, Hotel location

It would have been good if breakfast had been includede in the room rate - and extra £17 per person was expensive. Also should have provided a bottle of water in the rooms

Front of house staff, concierge especially helpful.

Ended up in one of the 'old, non-updated rooms', clearly this is hotel policy for your 'discount room' booking. Amount paid for room was clearly stated on room card, just in case the receptionist was not already aware of it!! Room was not representative of what was offered/displayed on the website.

It was perfectly placed for what we wanted to do.

It wasn't a four star standard as the shower was hopeless and I asked for someone to look at it but there was no improvement. Also there was a strong smell of cabbage and my brother's room was shabby.
